My Academic Journey

About Me

I am Dr. Naveed Sharif, a Consultant Histopathologist and Assistant Professor at Khyber Medical University, Peshawar. With a deep interest in diagnostic medicine, research, and medical education, I have dedicated my professional life to advancing the science of pathology and contributing to evidence-based healthcare. My journey reflects an enduring passion for teaching, research, and improving diagnostic accuracy through innovation and continuous learning.

I began my medical journey with an MBBS from Ayub Medical College, Abbottabad (University of Peshawar) in 2006, followed by an MPhil in Histopathology from Peshawar Medical College, Riphah International University in 2014. To further strengthen my academic foundation, I completed a PhD in Pathology and Diagnostic Medicine from Khyber Medical University, Peshawar in 2025.
In addition, I hold several professional certifications and diplomas in Health Professions Education, Biostatistics, Health Policy, Hospital Management, and Health Research from prestigious institutions including Aga Khan University, Karachi, and the Health Services Academy, Islamabad.

Clinical Experience

Over the past 15 years, I have worked extensively in clinical pathology and histopathology, serving at leading healthcare and academic institutions across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. My professional appointments include Consultant Histopathologist at Khyber Medical University and Khyber Teaching Hospital, and Head of the Department of Pathology at Al Khidmat Hospital, Peshawar.
Throughout my career, I have been actively involved in diagnostic services, quality assurance, laboratory management, and postgraduate medical training โ€” ensuring that diagnostic excellence and ethical practice remain at the forefront of patient care.

Research Activities

My research interests encompass histopathology, oncopathology, molecular studies, and diagnostic innovations. I have authored and co-authored over 25 peer-reviewed publications in national and international journals, contributing to the growing body of knowledge in pathology and medical sciences.
In addition to my publications, I actively serve as a reviewer for several medical journals, including the Khyber Medical University Journal, Isra Medical Journal, and The Professional Medical Journal. My academic endeavors also extend to mentoring postgraduate students and promoting a culture of research-based learning in medical education.
